Percy at Papplewick

PERCY - Chesterfield Model Engineers Locomotive

'Percy' is a 7¼" gauge coal fired locomotive, running around the grounds at Papplewick and is normally steamed on the same dates that the pumping station is in steam.
Members of Chesterfield Model Engineering Society own and built the loco about 25 years ago to a 'Rhomulus' design and is a 0-4-0 Well Tank fitted with Hackworth valve gear.
The length of the track is about 828 ft, 250 Mtr. of 7 1/4” gauge, plus sidings which are now dual gauge to include 5”. By the spring of 2008 it is hoped to have the extra rail for 5” gauge track all the way round.
